Wet taps are one of those jobs where the conditions don't care about your schedule. Muddy trench, standing water, tight space - you still have to get the connection right. That's exactly what we were dealing with on this 8"x4" C900 wet tap in Maple Grove.
A wet tap lets you tie into an existing pressurized water main without shutting the system down. No service interruption. No disruption to the surrounding area. The line stays live the whole time, which is a big deal on active municipal and utility systems where downtime isn't an option.
Here's what makes this type of work tricky - you're working in a confined trench, often with groundwater pooling at your feet, and the tolerances on the fitting and valve assembly have to be spot on. The saddle has to seat correctly on the C900 pipe. The gate valve has to be properly oriented and torqued. Every step matters because you're tapping into a live system.
We work in these conditions regularly across the Twin Cities area. Mud, water, tight excavations - none of that changes the standard we hold ourselves to on every connection. Getting it right the first time is the only option when the main is pressurized.
Wet tap work requires a crew that knows the equipment and understands what's at stake underground. When the trench is a mess and the pipe is live, experience is what keeps the job moving forward safely and correctly.
